YFAMD

The Young Filipino American Modern Dancers of Virginia (YFAMD), a hip-hop entertainment dance troupe, formed by Crs and Tricia Orpilla, Co-Owners of Str08 Hip-Hop Entertainment L.L.C. on June 21, 2005 .” YFAMD was formed to showcase the diverse and innovative talents of these “Young Filipino Americans”.

Many of these members grew up dancing Traditional Filipino Folk Dancing together from various organizations within the Hampton Roads area. These kids needed an outlet for their love and passion for Hip-Hop and its culture.

YFAMD provides a Big Brother or Big Sister Program, which The Filipino’s in tagalog say “Kuya”, for “Big Brother” and “ATE” for “Big Sister.” The members’ ages range from 5 years of age, college level and beyond. Our junior level “BFAMD was created in 2008.The letter “B” stands for Bunso, which means youngest in tagalog.
